Daniel Bourdanné

1959-2024

It is with deep sadness we share the news of the passing of Daniel Bourdanné (former IFES General Secretary) on 6 September 2024. Daniel – pictured here with his wife Halimatou at the IFES World Assembly in South Africa in 2019 – led IFES as General Secretary from 2007-19.

Michel Kenmogne (IFES Chair) writes: “The history of the advance of the gospel throughout the world over the last four decades cannot be written without mentioning Daniel Bourdanné. Daniel is one of those contemporaries who, with the Apostle Paul, could humbly say with conviction: “I have fought the good fight… I have finished my race.”

Tim Adams (current IFES General Secretary) writes: “Daniel was one of the giants of our global fellowship. He certainly stood a head taller than most of us, but his presence was so much more than his physical stature. Daniel lived a life of spiritual leadership and self-sacrificial service to the Lord and to IFES movements in Francophone Africa and around the world. We will miss him.”

We will share a fuller tribute to Daniel in the coming days.

IFES will also be compiling a book of photos and memories of Daniel’s life and ministry. If you would like to contribute, you can do so by email to info@ifesworld.org or online here:

“L’IFES, c’est essentiellement là que j’ai appris à être un chrétien équilibré spirituellement, et à être toujours motivé par le désir de ressembler de plus en plus à Jésus-Christ dans son caractère.
