First Word: issue four

Welcome to issue four of IFES Conexión — the monthly online magazine that connects the IFES world.

What’s in store this month?

In this fourth edition of Conexión, we talk to Ross McKenzie, Professor of Physics at the University of Queensland, Australia, about a new IFES project seeking to help students take the gospel onto their campus and engage in conversations about the good news. Ross tells us about the Big Issues in the University project, and his passion for the work.

This issue also explores what it is like for Christians facing persecution because of their faith. The current issue of the IFES Word and World journal focuses on persecution and suffering. What does it mean for Christians to faithfully endure in such contexts? Is it ever right for Christians to retaliate? Where is God amidst such suffering? We hear from a range of global voices on this pertinent subject.

And after returning from sabbatical, David Bahena, IFES Regional Secretary for Latin America, shares some of the lessons learned during his sabbatical, and what it means to be aware of the rhythms of life and ministry.

Finally, this month we meet Olena Welch— IFES Eurasia Training Secretary — for a trip in the elevator.

Enjoy!
