Francophone Voices on Gen Z

Resources from the IFES Francophone Platform

The IFES Francophone platform is a collective of representatives from the French-speaking movements of the fellowship. The resources offered on this page are a project of the platform.

The concept

In the French-speaking world (and perhaps elsewhere too!), the question of the next generation is crucial for the sustainability of our IFES movements. This question requires an understanding of the current generation, Generation Z. It is also an important issue for ensuring that we offer relevant training to our students / student leaders / young team staff.

Even though it manifests itself differently depending on our contexts, this challenge exists in each of our movements. It raises questions about generation, maturity, character, but also about the organisation and functioning of our movements.

Gen Z, in summary

To inform our thinking, we went to meet this generation; we listened to representatives from Francophone Africa, the Caribbean, France, and Quebec. We discussed the following issues with them:

  • How do you see your generation?
  • How can we bear witness to the Gospel with them?
  • What helps you in your walk as a disciple of Christ?
  • What do you expect from an organization or a church before you are prepared to commit yourself to it?

The video above offers a summary of the “best moments” from these interviews. The video series below offers the complete interviews.
