Santa Lucía: A Growing Voice
“We want to spread the gospel among our peers on campus. They believe things that aren’t true and many show signs of depression and hopelessness and lack the motivation to study”.
Juahn is a student leader in the IFES movement in St Lucia. As Vice President of the Interschool and College Christian Fellowship (ISCCF) Club at the renowned Sir Arthur Lewis Community College, she wants her group to have more influence on campus.
This would have been hard to imagine just a few years ago. Juahn recalls:
“I had social anxiety in my early teenage years. I felt awkward and was literally incapable of having a conversation”.
Liberating Prayer
Juahn’s start to high school was tough. It was at the height of the Covid-19 pandemic, when classes were conducted online – something she endured for almost two years. When the time finally came to meet classmates face to face, she struggled, feeling anxious and unable to speak with them.
Juahn decided to pray about the issue. Thanks to a Christian home, grounded in Scripture, worship, and prayer, her relationship with the Lord had been growing. She felt compelled to simply ask God to help her overcome this social anxiety – the fear and the awkwardness.
“To my amazement, my faithful Father answered my prayer.”
Juahn became more conversational, made new friends, and started taking small steps in sharing her faith with them.
Refreshing Fellowship
Juahn is studying for an associate’s degree in IT and hopes to pursue a major in AI technology. She says that having Christian fellowship in this context is a great support:
“To see this generation gathering on campus and praising the Lord gives me great joy. My soul is refreshed with the Scriptures and with a calm, peaceful environment that has genuine encouragement.”
It’s this joy, peace, and encouragement that Juahn wants to more intentionally share with peers. That’s why she’s very excited to be part of an upcoming IFES Caribbean regional gathering called IMPACT.
Mobilising Mission
IMPACT 2026: Transformed to Impact will take place 6–11 August in Saint Lucia, with around 160 participants from the region, including students, staff, graduates, and special guests.
Kerwin Stuart, IFES Associate Regional Secretary for the Caribbean, says:
“Our desire is to inspire and equip participants to become biblically grounded missionaries who will make a meaningful impact in their communities, across the Caribbean, and around the world.
“Through fellowship, worship, biblical teaching, prayer, leadership development, and mission engagement, we hope to encourage and equip participants to faithfully serve Christ wherever He has placed them.”
Let’s pray that God will continue to transform students like Juahn at Impact 2026, mobilising them with clear and confident voices for Jesus.
Pray
- Praise God for helping Juahn to overcome her social anxiety and giving her the confidence to serve. Ask that she will keep growing in courage, wisdom, and love and be blessed by IMPACT.
- Pray for students in St Lucia who are feeling hopeless, isolated, or unsure of what is true. May ISCCF meetings on every campus be places of welcome, purpose, and truth.
- Pray for IMPACT 2026: that God would transform lives to impact campuses, churches, communities, and nations. Pray for safe travel and smooth logistics. Ask that the unity and fellowship across Caribbean movements will refresh their ministry.
