Conozco a muchos estudiantes en el campus; \u00a1tenemos que empezar algo all\u00ed!\u00bb<\/em>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<\/div><\/blockquote>\n<\/div>\n\n<div class=\"wp-block block-core-paragraph\">\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Emanuel respondi\u00f3 con el coraz\u00f3n a una pregunta que le acababan de hacer: \u00bfpodr\u00eda lanzarse un ministerio estudiantil en su campus de Paysand\u00fa, Uruguay?&nbsp;<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n<div class=\"wp-block block-core-paragraph\">\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">El movimiento de IFES en Uruguay, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.cbu.uy\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Comunidad B\u00edblica Universitaria (CBU)<\/a>, trabaja desde hace a\u00f1os en la capital, Montevideo, donde se concentra la mayor\u00eda de los estudiantes universitarios. Tradicionalmente, la econom\u00eda, la pol\u00edtica y la educaci\u00f3n del pa\u00eds se han centrado en la ciudad, hasta el punto de que un profesor ha descrito el pa\u00eds como \u00abel puerto (Montevideo) y su patio trasero\u00bb.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n<div class=\"wp-block block-core-paragraph\">\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Sin embargo, en la \u00faltima d\u00e9cada, se han creado nuevas instituciones en el \u00abpatio trasero\u00bb, incluidos campus sat\u00e9lite de la universidad estatal. As\u00ed que los obreros y los estudiantes de CBU empezaron a orar por un testimonio estudiantil all\u00ed, buscando al Se\u00f1or para encontrar una manera de entrar.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n<div class=\"wp-block block-core-paragraph\">\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Entonces, hace tres a\u00f1os, el Secretario General de CBU, Jorge Berm\u00fadez, recibi\u00f3 un mensaje. No conoc\u00eda al remitente, Santiago, coordinador acad\u00e9mico de una escuela t\u00e9cnica superior (UTEC) de la ciudad Fray Bentos, del interior occidental. Al parecer, hab\u00eda o\u00eddo a Jorge hablar en una iglesia hace unos a\u00f1os y se sinti\u00f3 inspirado por la necesidad del ministerio estudiantil. \u00bfPodr\u00eda venir CBU a la UTEC?&nbsp;<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n<div class=\"wp-block block-core-paragraph\">\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Entonces, m\u00e1s buenas noticias: Antonella, una trabajadora social que Jorge conoc\u00eda, le concert\u00f3 una cita con el pastor de su iglesia en Paysand\u00fa, a unos 125 km al norte de Fray Bentos. Al enterarse de la existencia de CBU, el pastor (antiguo profesor de instituto) se mostr\u00f3 deseoso de que se iniciara all\u00ed el ministerio en las instituciones y se puso en contacto con otras dos iglesias.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n<div class=\"wp-block block-core-paragraph\">\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A trav\u00e9s de estas conexiones guiadas por el Esp\u00edritu, los obreros y los estudiantes de CBU visitaron Fray Bentos y Paysand\u00fa en los \u00faltimos meses para dirigir dos talleres: \u00abConstruyendo puentes\u00bb (evangelizaci\u00f3n relacional) y \u00abDetectives b\u00edblicos\u00bb (estudios b\u00edblicos inductivos). Los estudiantes locales ya est\u00e1n equipados, incluido el entusiasta Emanuel. Pudo asistir al campamento nacional de CBU en marzo, en el que declar\u00f3 \u00ab\u00a1s\u00ed, hay que hacerlo!\u00bb.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n<div class=\"wp-block block-core-paragraph\">\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Para que esta pasi\u00f3n se extienda a\u00fan m\u00e1s entre los estudiantes, el equipo de CBU espera colaborar con las iglesias locales en un retiro de dos d\u00edas en esa zona en el mes de mayo. Tambi\u00e9n tienen previsto involucrar a los estudiantes en la direcci\u00f3n del <a href=\"https:\/\/themarkdrama.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Proyecto Marcos<\/a> en septiembre. Mientras tanto, los estudiantes reci\u00e9n formados dar\u00e1n sus primeros pasos para poner en marcha peque\u00f1os grupos en el campus.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n<div class=\"wp-block block-core-paragraph\">\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">En CBU, estos grupos tienen un nombre especial: <em>Mateada B\u00edblica<\/em>. Transmite el ambiente amistoso de sentarse a tomar un <em>mate<\/em> (una infusi\u00f3n tradicional sudamericana) y charlar juntos, en este caso, sobre la Biblia.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n<div class=\"wp-block block-core-paragraph\">\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">As\u00ed que, demos gracias a Dios por estas oportunidades en Uruguay y oremos por los estudiantes de CBU mientras comparten un mate (y a Jes\u00fas) en su patio trasero:&nbsp;<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n<div class=\"wp-block block-core-list\">\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><div class=\"wp-block block-core-list-item\">\n<li>Demos gracias por la manera en la que Dios obr\u00f3 a trav\u00e9s de Santiago y Antonella para que CBU pudiera formar estudiantes en Fray Bentos y Paysand\u00fa, y por las buenas relaciones con las iglesias locales. Pide que contin\u00faen y se profundicen dichas relaciones.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/div>\n\n<div class=\"wp-block block-core-list-item\">\n<li>Oremos por Emanuel y los otros estudiantes que recibieron la formaci\u00f3n de CBU para que den un paso en la fe, inicien grupos y vean a Dios obrando. Pide tambi\u00e9n que el retiro previsto y la difusi\u00f3n del Proyecto Marcos inspiren y conecten con m\u00e1s estudiantes.&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/div>\n\n<div class=\"wp-block block-core-list-item\">\n<li>Ora para que Dios despierte a muchas m\u00e1s personas que nos apoyan, obreros y estudiantes para que participen, este a\u00f1o, en el <a href=\"https:\/\/ifesworld.org\/en\/ggd-24\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">D\u00eda Mundial de la Generosidad de IFES:<\/a><a href=\"https:\/\/ifesworld.org\/en\/ggd-24\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"> Por todo el mundo<\/a> (17 de abril), que recaudar\u00e1 fondos para iniciativas como \u00e9sta, destinadas a plantar nuevos grupos en todo el mundo.&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/div><\/ul>\n<\/div>\n\n<div class=\"wp-block block-core-quote\">\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\"><div class=\"wp-block block-core-paragraph\">\n<p class=\"has-latin-america-color has-text-color wp-block-paragraph\"><em>\u201cYes, we must! I know loads of students on campus; we must start something there!\u201d<\/em>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<\/div><\/blockquote>\n<\/div>\n\n<div class=\"wp-block block-core-paragraph\">\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Emanuel gave his heartfelt response to a question he\u2019d just been asked: could student ministry be launched on his campus in Paysand\u00fa, Uruguay?&nbsp;<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n<div class=\"wp-block block-core-paragraph\">\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The IFES movement in Uruguay, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.cbu.uy\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Comunidad B\u00edblica Universitaria (CBU)<\/a>, has worked for many years in the capital Montevideo, where most students attend university. Traditionally, the country\u2019s economy, politics, and education have centred on the city \u2013 so much so that one lecturer has described the country as \u201cthe port (Montevideo) and its backyard\u201d.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n<div class=\"wp-block block-core-paragraph\">\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In the last decade, however, new institutions have been established in the \u201cbackyard\u201d, including satellite campuses of the state university. So, staff and students in CBU began praying for a student witness there, seeking the Lord for a way in.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n<div class=\"wp-block block-core-paragraph\">\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Then, three years ago, CBU General Secretary Jorge Berm\u00fadez received a message. He didn\u2019t know the sender, Santiago, an academic coordinator at a technical college (UTEC) in the western interior city of Fray Bentos. Apparently, he\u2019d heard Jorge speak at a church a few years ago and was inspired about the need for student ministry. Could CBU come to UTEC?&nbsp;<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n<div class=\"wp-block block-core-paragraph\">\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Then, more good news: Antonella, a social worker Jorge knew, arranged a meeting for him with her church pastor in Paysand\u00fa, about 125km north of Fray Bentos. On hearing about CBU, the pastor (a former high school teacher) was keen to see ministry start at institutions there and reached out to two other churches.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n<div class=\"wp-block block-core-paragraph\">\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Through these Spirit-led connections, CBU staff and students visited Fray Bentos and Paysand\u00fa in recent months to lead two workshops: \u201cBuilding bridges\u201d (relational evangelism) and \u201cBible detectives\u201d (inductive Bible studies). Local students are now equipped \u2013 including enthusiastic Emanuel. He was able to attend the CBU national camp in March, when he declared his \u201cyes, we must!\u201d.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n<div class=\"wp-block block-core-paragraph\">\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">To see this passion spread further among students, the CBU team hopes to collaborate with local churches on a two-day retreat in the area in May. They also plan to engage students in running <a href=\"https:\/\/themarkdrama.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">The Mark Drama<\/a> in September. In the meantime, the newly equipped students will take their first steps in launching small groups on campus.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n<div class=\"wp-block block-core-paragraph\">\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In CBU, such groups have a special name: <em>Mateada Biblica<\/em>. It conveys the friendly atmosphere of sitting around to drink <em>mate<\/em> (a traditional South American herbal tea) and chat together \u2013 in this case, about the Bible.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n<div class=\"wp-block block-core-paragraph\">\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">So, let\u2019s thank God for these opportunities in Uruguay and pray for CBU students as they share tea (and Jesus) in their backyard:&nbsp;<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n<div class=\"wp-block block-core-list\">\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><div class=\"wp-block block-core-list-item\">\n<li>Give thanks for the way God worked through Santiago and Antonella to enable CBU to train up students in Fray Bentos and Paysand\u00fa \u2013 and for the good relations with local churches. Ask that these will continue and deepen.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/div>\n\n<div class=\"wp-block block-core-list-item\">\n<li>Pray for Emanuel and the other students who received CBU training \u2013 that they will step out in faith, start groups, and see God at work.
