Why does life matter?\u201d<\/em>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n<div class=\"wp-block block-core-paragraph\">\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">When Ashley started college,&nbsp;she was&nbsp;lost&nbsp;in a fog of&nbsp;questions&nbsp;that troubled her.&nbsp;She felt sad and alone.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n<div class=\"wp-block block-core-paragraph\">\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">But last&nbsp;year,&nbsp;Ashley&nbsp;was&nbsp;smiling&nbsp;as she&nbsp;invited&nbsp;freshers&nbsp;to&nbsp;her&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/intervarsity.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">InterVarsity\/USA<\/a>&nbsp;campus&nbsp;group, offering them the purpose and friendship&nbsp;she\u2019s&nbsp;found in Jesus.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n<div class=\"wp-block block-core-paragraph\">\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">How did&nbsp;this&nbsp;transformation&nbsp;occur?&nbsp;Ashley&nbsp;met Grace.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n<div class=\"wp-block block-core-heading wp-elements-0a0907c0f4e2df4223d2290c0c050a65\">\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading has-north-america-color has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-0a0907c0f4e2df4223d2290c0c050a65\"><strong>Seeing&nbsp;the&nbsp;Spark<\/strong>&nbsp;<\/h2>\n<\/div>\n\n<div class=\"wp-block block-core-paragraph\">\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It was their first day at Scripps College&nbsp;in Claremont, California.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n<div class=\"wp-block block-core-paragraph\">\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Ashley walked into the classroom.&nbsp;Although she had a choice of many empty seats, she&nbsp;felt strangely drawn&nbsp;to someone already sat there&nbsp;\u2013&nbsp;Grace.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n<div class=\"wp-block block-core-paragraph\">\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em>\u201cI&nbsp;immediately&nbsp;relaxed when I saw her&nbsp;\u2013 like she could be a friend.&nbsp;I sat down and asked&nbsp;her&nbsp;what her name was&nbsp;and&nbsp;what&nbsp;she was studying.&nbsp;But I felt&nbsp;compelled to ask more. I could see that there was a spark in her<\/em><em>.\u201d<\/em>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n<div class=\"wp-block block-core-paragraph\">\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">From&nbsp;further questioning, Ashley learned that&nbsp;Grace wanted to&nbsp;go into biblical counselling&nbsp;\u2013 and&nbsp;that she&nbsp;was a Christian.&nbsp;Ashley had met other Christians before and heard worship&nbsp;songs,&nbsp;but she&nbsp;couldn\u2019t&nbsp;fathom&nbsp;it:&nbsp;<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n<div class=\"wp-block block-core-paragraph\">\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em>\u201cThey&nbsp;were always&nbsp;talking&nbsp;about loving&nbsp;God,&nbsp;but I had no idea what this meant.&nbsp;I mean, how do you love God? Who is God?\u201d<\/em>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n<div class=\"wp-block block-core-paragraph\">\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">So, when Grace&nbsp;later&nbsp;invited her to&nbsp;a place&nbsp;of&nbsp;sharing&nbsp;about&nbsp;life,&nbsp;vulnerably&nbsp;asking&nbsp;questions and&nbsp;honestly&nbsp;studying&nbsp;the Bible together,&nbsp;she jumped&nbsp;at&nbsp;the chance.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n<div class=\"wp-block block-core-heading wp-elements-45cbbb082eb0f69a903134e35a0b4bbc\">\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading has-north-america-color has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-45cbbb082eb0f69a903134e35a0b4bbc\"><strong>Seeing the&nbsp;Light<\/strong>&nbsp;<\/h2>\n<\/div>\n\n<div class=\"wp-block block-core-paragraph\">\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">At the Bible study group,&nbsp;Ashley&nbsp;experienced&nbsp;love&nbsp;and care.&nbsp;She recalls:&nbsp;<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n<div class=\"wp-block block-core-paragraph\">\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em>\u201cI felt at home. I felt with God. It completely blew my mind what a community could be like<\/em><em>&nbsp;\u2013&nbsp;<\/em><em>about love and healing,&nbsp;about&nbsp;depth<\/em><em>,<\/em><em>&nbsp;meaning, and purpose.\u201d<\/em>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n<div class=\"wp-block block-core-paragraph\">\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Grace loved Ashley\u2019s curiosity.&nbsp;They&nbsp;enjoyed&nbsp;meals&nbsp;together, and Grace&nbsp;responded to&nbsp;Ashley\u2019s questions about faith.&nbsp;As they were talking one night, Grace explained the gospel to Ashley and invited her to follow Jesus.\u202fWithout hesitation,&nbsp;Ashley said yes.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n<div class=\"wp-block block-core-heading wp-elements-423765f31d712bc062f39e898c020abd\">\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading has-north-america-color has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-423765f31d712bc062f39e898c020abd\"><strong>Seeing God&nbsp;at Work<\/strong>&nbsp;<\/h2>\n<\/div>\n\n<div class=\"wp-block block-core-paragraph\">\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Looking back,&nbsp;Grace&nbsp;is mindful of how God&nbsp;orchestrated the encounter&nbsp;on that&nbsp;first day in college:&nbsp;<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n<div class=\"wp-block block-core-paragraph\">\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em>\u201c<\/em><em>This had&nbsp;actually&nbsp;been&nbsp;something&nbsp;that&nbsp;I was praying for. But I&nbsp;wasn\u2019t&nbsp;looking for\u202fit&nbsp;on\u202fthe first day of\u202fclass! Then, in\u202fcomes this girl,\u202fand\u202fshe&#8217;s\u202fsitting right next to me,\u202fwhen there&nbsp;are other seats&nbsp;available<\/em><em>.<\/em>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n<div class=\"wp-block block-core-paragraph\">\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em>\u201c<\/em><em>If I could go back to that day,&nbsp;I\u2019d&nbsp;tell myself<\/em><em>,&nbsp;\u2018<\/em><em>Look up!<\/em><em>\u2019,\u202f<\/em><em>because God is doing something.<\/em><em>\u201d<\/em>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n<div class=\"wp-block block-core-heading wp-elements-57ddf5b43dd091e200dae1d38b750be5\">\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading has-north-america-color has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-57ddf5b43dd091e200dae1d38b750be5\"><strong>Pray<\/strong>&nbsp;<\/h2>\n<\/div>\n\n<div class=\"wp-block block-core-list\">\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><div class=\"wp-block block-core-list-item\">\n<li>Praise God&nbsp;for&nbsp;saving&nbsp;Ashley from her emptiness&nbsp;and&nbsp;for&nbsp;using&nbsp;Grace&nbsp;in that process. Pray that Christian students on&nbsp;the USA\u2019s 6,000&nbsp;campuses&nbsp;will \u201clook up\u201d&nbsp;and see the opportunities around them.
