She\u2019ll join with over 500 students and staff from 17 IFES national movements in her <a href=\"https:\/\/ifesworld.org\/region\/eastasia\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">region<\/a> (plus six from other countries). The triennial IFES <a href=\"https:\/\/earc2024.wixsite.com\/website\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">East Asia Regional Conference (EARC)<\/a> (3-9 July 2024) will be a time to fellowship together and seek God&#8217;s guidance for the challenges they face in their university contexts.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n<div class=\"wp-block block-core-heading wp-elements-e3027e4da8ac8806ac62439f067ee68c\">\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading has-text-align-left has-primary-color has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-e3027e4da8ac8806ac62439f067ee68c\"><em><strong>\u201cI hope to learn, be equipped, and inspired so I can serve with renewed strength in a world where I face the challenge of standing against worldly values.\u201d <\/strong><\/em>&#8211; (Jess, student in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tcs.or.th\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">TCS Thailand<\/a>)&nbsp;<\/h4>\n<\/div>\n\n<div class=\"wp-block block-core-paragraph\">\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Taking a stand, having a voice, is reflected in the theme of this year\u2019s event: \u201c<strong>Voice Matters<\/strong>\u201d.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n<div class=\"wp-block block-core-heading wp-elements-8ec903f714a15bfda35a93b47bf7da72\">\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading has-east-asia-color has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-8ec903f714a15bfda35a93b47bf7da72\"><strong>A Variety of Voices&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/strong>&nbsp;<\/h3>\n<\/div>\n\n<div class=\"wp-block block-core-paragraph\">\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">As students arrive from diverse contexts, they\u2019ll hear each other\u2019s voices: some will come from IFES national movements that are well-established (e.g. <a href=\"https:\/\/fellowship.sg\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">FES Singapore<\/a>); some from those more recently affiliated (e.g. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/FCSMongolia\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">FCS Mongolia<\/a>); and others from those operating in secret due to security concerns.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n<div class=\"wp-block block-core-paragraph\">\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Grace, part of the Thai host committee for EARC 2024, explains how important the interaction across movements will be:<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n<div class=\"wp-block block-core-heading wp-elements-fad1db29ad083e4028b22052e3aa9d59\">\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading has-primary-color has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-fad1db29ad083e4028b22052e3aa9d59\"> <em>\u201c<strong>Students will gain a broader perspective of God&#8217;s work as they hear about each other\u2019s ministries and consider specific issues together<\/strong>.\u201d<\/em>&nbsp;<\/h4>\n<\/div>\n\n<div class=\"wp-block block-core-paragraph\">\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">That\u2019s exactly what Jefta (student in <a href=\"https:\/\/perkantas.net\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Perkantas Indonesia<\/a>) is looking for:<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n<div class=\"wp-block block-core-heading wp-elements-5ed39257454d1cacc03ead0f4af4fc2f\">\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading has-primary-color has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-5ed39257454d1cacc03ead0f4af4fc2f\"> <em>\u201c<strong>Hopefully through EARC we can connect and build strong relationships, share our journey and experiences, give hope and strengthen each other.\u201d<\/strong><\/em>&nbsp;<\/h4>\n<\/div>\n\n<div class=\"wp-block block-core-heading wp-elements-48e70b451eaf3b0bab811eb623e4c7a6\">\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading has-east-asia-color has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-48e70b451eaf3b0bab811eb623e4c7a6\"><strong>Listening for God\u2019s Voice<\/strong>&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/h3>\n<\/div>\n\n<div class=\"wp-block block-core-paragraph\">\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Throughout EARC, participants will be listening for God\u2019s voice. Bible expositions from Zechariah will be led by \u201cTitus\u201d (from a sensitive movement), who clearly has a prophet\u2019s heart:&nbsp;<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n<div class=\"wp-block block-core-heading wp-elements-60f2b5d455522b04353ee6c389731725\">\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading has-text-align-left has-primary-color has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-60f2b5d455522b04353ee6c389731725\"><em>\u201c<strong>When I see the challenges we face, my heart wrestles with fear, pain, and brokenness. But the Lord also shows me signs of hope, mixed with sparkling joy, through those who faithfully and sacrificially serve in the ministry.\u201d<\/strong><\/em>&nbsp;<\/h4>\n<\/div>\n\n<div class=\"wp-block block-core-paragraph\">\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">He asks us to pray that the Lord would speak through him as he opens the Scriptures so that students will dedicate themselves to be prophetic voices and faithful disciples, impacting society for good.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n<div class=\"wp-block block-core-paragraph\">\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Andrea, a student in <a href=\"https:\/\/ivcfphil.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">IVCF Philippines<\/a>, is ready: <\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n<div class=\"wp-block block-core-heading wp-elements-57304a48055bd556159c42916f20b09a\">\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading has-primary-color has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-57304a48055bd556159c42916f20b09a\"><strong><em>\u201cAt EARC, I\u2019m looking forward to fellowship, encouragement, worship, and rest. But, above all, I\u2019m eager to hear and listen to what the Lord calls me to.\u201d&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/em><\/strong><\/h4>\n<\/div>\n\n<div class=\"wp-block block-core-heading wp-elements-acd1aea807e562dd6a67d3fe73ba5b85\">\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading has-east-asia-color has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-acd1aea807e562dd6a67d3fe73ba5b85\"><strong>Learning to be God\u2019s Voice<\/strong>&nbsp;<\/h3>\n<\/div>\n\n<div class=\"wp-block block-core-paragraph\">\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">To help students explore that calling, three plenary sessions and a range of workshops will facilitate reflective discussions. This includes contemporary issues (e.g., <em>cancel culture<\/em> and <em>gender identity<\/em>), ministry topics (e.g., <em>understanding church<\/em> and <em>evangelism in the secular university<\/em>), and personal development themes (e.g.,<em> emotional resilience<\/em> and <em>critical thinking<\/em>).&nbsp;<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n<div class=\"wp-block block-core-paragraph\">\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Anucha, General Secretary of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tcs.or.th\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">TCS Thailand<\/a> elaborates, <\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n<div class=\"wp-block block-core-heading wp-elements-ca94e4a0a11664d3a42abaebb8e2e798\">\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading has-primary-color has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-ca94e4a0a11664d3a42abaebb8e2e798\"><strong><em>\u201cThis year\u2019s EARC will challenge students to dedicate themselves to being prophetic voices \u2013 by bearing witness, loving others, serving society, and being a voice that leads others to see the truth and hope in the gospel.\u201d&nbsp;<\/em><\/strong><\/h4>\n<\/div>\n\n<div class=\"wp-block block-core-heading wp-elements-a757879dcbbbc4b1aff5846606838b45\">\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading has-east-asia-color has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-a757879dcbbbc4b1aff5846606838b45\"><strong>Pray<\/strong>&nbsp;<\/h3>\n<\/div>\n\n<div class=\"wp-block block-core-paragraph\">\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Today, we\u2019ve heard seven voices. Let\u2019s pray that these \u2013 and the voices of all attending EARC \u2013 will truly matter:&nbsp;<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n<div class=\"wp-block block-core-list\">\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><div class=\"wp-block block-core-list-item\">\n<li>Lisman, IFES Regional Secretary for East Asia, asks,<em> \u201cPlease pray for God&#8217;s presence, peace, and protection, and that participants will discern God&#8217;s voice and return to their respective movements as the voice of their generation for the glory of God.\u201d&nbsp;<\/em><\/li>\n<\/div><\/ul>\n<\/div>\n\n<div class=\"wp-block block-core-list\">\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><div class=\"wp-block block-core-list-item\">\n<li>Pray for \u201c<em>Titus<\/em>\u201d \u2013 that the Lord will speak powerfully through his ministry \u2013 and pray for all those ministering in sensitive countries, for renewed strength and courageous hope.&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/div><\/ul>\n<\/div>\n\n<div class=\"wp-block block-core-list\">\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><div class=\"wp-block block-core-list-item\">\n<li>Thank the Lord for all the hard work of the Thai host committee and pray that they will know God\u2019s blessing and strength as they serve their sisters and brothers from across the region.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/div><\/ul>\n<\/div>","protected":false},"featured_media":38478,"template":"","area":[455],"theme":[],"class_list":["post-38477","prayerline","type-prayerline","status-publish","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","area-east-asia"],"acf":[],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v27.2 - https:\/\/yoast.com\/product\/yoast-seo-wordpress\/ -->\n<title>Voice matters &#183;
