Indonesia is a country in South East Asia blessed with cultural diversity and abundant natural resources. It has the 4th largest population in the world. The historical and cultural diversity captured in the national motto “Bhineka Tunggal Ika” (many but one) and the freedom of religion stipulated in the constitution, supports the growth of Christianity. However, Christians are still in the minority, constituting about 10% of the population – and do sometimes face persecution.
By 2016, Perkantas had groups in 47 cities, and were pioneering in more than 50 cities, ministering to 135 universities across the nation.
- 262 full-time staff
- More than 20 part-time staff
- More than 1000 volunteers
Perkantas has ministries for graduates and high school students spreading across the country. As of 2016, Perkantas were in 227 schools. There are also graduate ministries in almost every city, even in cities where there is no Perkantas local office yet. There are small groups consisting of 3-6 people in pioneering areas. Perkantas holds regular national conferences for student ministry teams and for graduates.
View from the inside
Most of the staff have experienced the benefits of Perkantas ministry during their own time as a student and feel the need to reach and serve students for Christ. Our vision is to see Christian alumni become a blessing for the family, the church, the nation, and the world.
Jesus’ Great Commission in Matthew 28:19-20 has always been the foundation of Perkantas ministry, that is, not only bringing students to repentance in Christ, but also teaching them as his disciples, that they would learn to imitate him in all aspects of life.
- Pray for this generation of Christian students to be courageous in sharing their faith with their friends
- Pray that new groups would be started in the places where we are pioneering
- Pray for the staff across the country to be equipped and strengthened in their efforts to reach and serve the student alumni
