new zealand: developing community
Many students who share accommodation do not really share life. But TSCF (the IFES movement in New Zealand) has developed
Rongopai, Good News in Maori, and the indigenous language of New Zealand, to help students share their lives with one another.
TSCF has been able to rent the Ecumenical Chaplaincy on the Victoria University campus where 8 students live together for a year. The students are challenged to developing community amongst the group and with their friends and classmates. So far,
Rongopai has become a welcoming place for students to get together, study and hold Bible study groups. The TSCF students have invited their friends for dinner, and held a number of social events. During the year, TSCF students will build meaningful community and develop deeper relationships which multiply their visibility on the university. This experience will lay a good foundation for their Christian life after graduation.
Please join TSCF in giving thanks to God for the
Rongapai initiative and for the blessing it's already been to so many people, both Christian or non Christian. Pray that this house will be good news for all who live there and will be a place of sharing good news for all who visit.
