Students Reaching Students with the Gospel

Severe flooding has caused havoc for hundreds of thousands of people across sub-Saharan Africa. The floods are reported to have affected some 1.5 million people: destroying homes, crops and infrastructure and polluting water sources. This is in some of the world's least developed and poorest countries, where lives are already damaged by conflicts and poverty. Please pray for all of the countries affected and for the safety and well-being of those displaced by the flooding. Jacques Toko, General Secretary of the IFES movement in Togo, expressed the feelings of many in the region when he wrote: "Thanks to IFES for its interest in our country. We feel relieved that you think of us. The floods indeed caused lots of material damage and people lost lives. The academic year is going to start later as a result." Please pray for our brothers and sisters across the region as they seek to respond to this tragedy, helping family and friends, and loving their neighbours in practical ways. Emmanuel Ahlijah from Ghana wrote to us: "Thanks - knowing that you prayed for us has woken me up again to be sensitive to what is happening around me. We need to hold the newspaper and the good news of the gospel together." Please pray that the gospel will be applied in practical and compassionate ways in this difficult situation.
