Students Reaching Students with the Gospel

prayer snippets

Cross-cultural connections

Relay is a one-year discipleship programme that provides graduates with opportunities to work alongside students.

David Kurka, from ABUB Brazil, did Relay in London this year. ‘I am very thankful for all that God has done and all that I have learned. Now is the last stage of my time as a Relay worker.

‘My dream is to work with students from my city. International student ministry was just starting there when I left and it’s been growing over the last eight months. Pray as I consider the possibility to work with ABUB Brazil in the long term.’

Pray for David and other Relay workers as they are being equipped to serve God amongst students. Pray too for further opportunities to use what they have learned.

Mobilising for partnership

Kurt and Karyn M are in the last two months of preparation with InterVarsity LINK to work with GBU France. ‘Our plan is to lead an outreach team to Muslims in Strasbourg, France, as well as to contribute to ministry in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region. It’s planned for Kurt to travel to help with training across the Middle East.’ Please pray for the family as they make this transition, and for others who reach out to the large Muslim population in France.

English camp in Slovakia

Heledd Job, InterAction worker with VBH Slovakia, writes: ‘All 23 campers have arrived and we had our first full day yesterday. We have more beginners than we thought and so two of the bible studies are quite challenging but all are going well I think. There is a nice atmosphere, people are getting along well and the team are having good conversation with campers. We have lots of Christians here but also some non-Christians which is great. Some of the Christians are already showing an interest in joining a VBH group in their university or starting one if there isn't one already there. Pray that the Spirit would be at work in the hearts of each student, opening their eyes to see Jesus’ beauty. Pray that those who don’t know him would come to know him. And pray that those who do know him would come to love him more and so be more willing to share him with others in their families and universities.’

More camps!

Andrey Kolegov, Acting General Secretary of CCX Russia, writes: ‘This summer CCX Russia plans to run two student camps. In addition to the annual camp in Chelyabinsk, we want to run one in Tomsk for prospective first year students. We aim to help them adapt to their new identity, and provide an opportunity to find a further one – as disciples of Jesus Christ. Pray with us that these plans all come to fruition’

Give thanks for the recent leadership development conference for all of Eurasia that a student from Russia attended. Please pray for the follow-up meetings for small group leaders from 18 July – 2 August.
