On the beach in Greece
A team of ten is going with Jonathan Clarke, InterAction co-worker, to the beautiful island of Paros, Greece. No, this isn’t just a holiday – the team will be working hard to build relationships at a campsite and meet people on the beach and in town, looking for opportunities to share Mark’s gospel wherever possible. Jonathan asks us to pray for boldness in their witness. ‘We have only a short time there and want to make the most of it – we need to remember that we should not be apologising for our bold convictions and great hopes.’
What shapes your thinking?
TSCF New Zealand is just finishing up their national conference (4-8 July) called Live Large: Money, Sex and Power. Students have been challenged about how our thinking about money, sex and power is framed by what we watch, the magazines we read and the websites we surf.
‘Celebrity is the model, success is the aim, fame is the standard. But there is more! How will you live? What will shape your thinking? Who will be your model? What do you aspire to do, to be, to have?’ Pray for students as they think about these questions.
UESI India – never a boring meeting!
From 13-15 July UESI India will hold their Annual General Meeting (AGM). Not simply a business meeting, the AGM has been designed as a spiritual event that will uplift and motivate the UESI members to understand God's calling in their lives. In the words of the organisers, ‘It will be a gathering of God's people to express their love and concern for student ministry; it will be a time of fellowship to build one another and encourage one another; it will be a time of review and examination of the ministry; it will also be a key event that will challenge each and every one of us to go forward to do great exploits for God.’ Pray that all who attend will indeed be encouraged and envisioned for ministry.
Camping in Canada
School is out and Inter-Varsity camps have started all across Canada. Aimed at children from elementary school through high school, the camps not only provide a great opportunity for guiding the spiritual development of the young, but also give university students leadership training as they spend time working with the children under the guidance of skilled staff. Pray for these camps that God will use them to develop strong disciples of Christ of all ages.
