God is moving in Myanmar
This time last year we told you about the start of a new student movement in Myanmar. A staffworker had the chance to visit the country recently and is happy to report: ‘I had a meeting with nine students from four different colleges, shared with them the importance of student ministry and encouraged them to start bible study groups in coming months.
‘The most enthusiastic time was meeting with some medical students – a significant number of them come from all medical disciplines and meet regularly for bible studies, but they need relevant and intensive resource tools to make the bible studies useful for their fields.’
Praise God that things are moving in Myanmar. One living stone at a time, God is building his kingdom – may he continue to provide for students there and may they grow in understanding of how to apply their faith to their fields of study and their whole lives.
Celebrating 50 years of ministry in Guatemala
Join with GEU Guatemala in celebrating 50 years of student ministry (Saturday 24 November). To mark the occasion they have invited graduates of the movement for a time of celebration and teaching.
The theme for this event will be: Professionals who promote the justice of the kingdom of God. Let us thank God for GEU staff and graduates who have contributed to growing the work and its impact in the workplace, families, the church and Guatemalan society. May he grow this group in both number and maturity and bless GEU with many more years of fruitful ministry to come.
Training future leaders in the South Pacific
Every year AFES Australia organises their National Training Event (NTE). This year’s NTE will be from 8-12 December. In past years this event has been a great blessing in terms of training and equipping young leaders, not only for AFES but also for neighbouring movements such as TSCF New Zealand and movements in the smaller Pacific islands. Ma’afu Palu, a staff worker in Tonga, hopes to bring a small team from his country there, even more: they hope to do a pre-NTE mission outreach in order to get prepared!
Praise God for such enthusiasm for training in mission. Please pray for the NTE planning team and all the logistics, and for students who need to raise funds for their travels.
